Choosing Operating System is an easy job.It all depends upon you.If you are a simple user , and using computer for family purposes , like listening to songs , creating documents , a little programming.I suggest you to use either Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 7 , mostly , I recommend Windows 7 Home Edition or Ultimate for users like you.There will be many choices and many websites that offer you Windows Operating System for free , but I recommend to have a genuine one , duplicates and other pirated cd's or softwares may harm your computer and also effect your computer and make them exposed to viruses easily.Buy it either in the Amazon.com or Microsoft Windows Official website.It is better.
If you are advanced , and know Linux well including C Programming , i suggest redhat or ubuntu , they are free.They are open source.
